Holiday Potluck with Black Student Alliance!

Its that time of year! Everyone is getting ready to combat finals and celebrate the holiday. What better way to perform these task than with people just like you.

In conjunction with the Black Student Alliance'S STUDY-IN, REAAL will be hosting a Potluck December 5, 2011 from seven to nine P.M. IN the MCC (Inside the MSU Union)

Members of REAAL appreciate all of the hard work that BSA (Black Student Alliance) has been doing throughout the semester to create a more diverse and aware student body at Michigan State University. With this Study-In, BSA hopes to show how hard African American Students study with numbers. Each Day, BSA will document how many hours each student studied during the Study-In with a prospective goal of 5,000 hours. This event will take place December 1-9. Please check in at the MCC!

Leaders of REAAL thought it would be a great idea to provide students with some good food while they enhance their scholarship. We expect many of the Black community to attend, therefore we need your help. If you would like to join us by bringing a dish please contact Cortni at 3136539394 or mariah at 3133103368.  We hope to see you there!

REAAL Issues: To Be, or Not To Be

Having an abortion is something society overlooks. With more than 40 million existing annually it is a situation that needs to be discussed.

On October 17 we hosted To Be Or Not To Be, a panel discussing pregnancy, abortion and foster care in 2011. With over twenty attendee’s, our goal was to introduce unorthodox situations to students at Michigan State University. Individuals on the panel were either Pro-Life or Pro-Choice.

Members of REAAL provided the audience with various scenarios that they would have to act out. Ending with challenges that would make them choose to be for, or against having an abortion. Examples of this were situations where the woman had been raped by a third party. Many concluded that they would keep the child. Some students brought up questions about the women’s health and her relationship with her partner. In result, panelist asked what are the solutions

In all, we appreciate everyone who supported this event. Our goal is to make more individuals aware of this issue, find solutions and take action.
Check out some pictures from the event below!

1. FORMAT- Nothing will get your information in the circular file quicker than incorrect formatting.
